President's Message
Welcome to the NEW Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce. We have returned to our original mission to encourage business and commerce within Solana Beach, including attracting new businesses, and promoting growth and development of our existing businesses.
Since becoming President of the Chamber we have launched a member-to-member discount program, created a more dynamic web presence, set up a Small Business Referral Center, re-designed our marketing materials, developed a small business handbook, partnered with the city-wide website eSolana.com, began a Power Luncheon event program that occurs every other month and we are now working on rolling out next month a larger and more productive format for our Sundowners. And, we have begun meetings with our city's Mayor and our city manager to plan some very exciting events that will bring business to Solana Beach as well as create more environmental consciousness.
We have also started a membership drive to bring previous members back to the organization in addition to recruiting new members. Since October, 2011, only 3 months ago, our membership has increased by 25% and we fully expect that to continue to grow through 2012.
My attention is now also focused on our upcoming Fiesta Del Sol. No single business can organize and implement the Fiesta Del Sol drawing 50,000 people into our community from across the region, but our Chamber has made this magical celebration a reality for many years. We are planning to make changes to upgrade Fiesta Del Sol in order to draw people to shop in our city, mitigate the parking impact on businesses during Fiesta and provide opportunities that will attract the merchants of the Cedros Design District to embrace and become part of the event in various different fashions.
I want to thank our unsung heroes, the Ambassadors, who show up at all chamber events to provide support for our chamber members.
And, lastly, I am so pleased and proud of our 2012 Board of Directors. We now have a great diverse representation of business leaders in our community. I am honored to work with each one of you to help ensure that the Solana Beach Business community thrives in 2012.
